Due Diligence Guide

6 questions to ask before you invest in EIIS

As featured on the Informed Decisions podcast with BVP CFO Stephen Tully.

1. How long is your money invested?
EIIS shares must be held for a minimum statutory period of four years to retain your tax relief. We guide investors to plan for a realistic 5 to 7 year horizon to allow orderly trade sales and exit distributions.
2. Where is your money held?
Your capital is not held directly on company balance sheets before allocation. BVP uses an independent regulated trustee (IQ-EQ) to ringfence and protect investor funds.
3. What are the costs?
Investors pay a 3% upfront entry fee with 0% annual management charges to retail investors. BVP charges monitoring fees to portfolio companies rather than depleting investor capital.
4. How are advisors paid?
Whether investing directly or via a regulated advisor, standard commission is transparent (3%). There are no hidden broker kickbacks.
5. How is risk managed?
Instead of risking 100% of your capital on a single company, the BVP 20th Fund allocates your investment across 6–8 growing Irish enterprises.
6. How are gains taxed?
Tax relief applies immediately on entry against your current-year tax bill. Subsequent capital gains upon profitable exit are subject to normal Capital Gains Tax (CGT).
